Project description

The main SCOPE of the THEO project is to promote physical activity with animals (mainly dogs) to enhance long lasting healthy routines that will help reduce physical and mental diseases as well as social issues such as loneliness, in a symbiotic relationship where both species will experience the benefits of exercising together. The activities include digital tools such as a videogame, e-book, webpage and dissemination through several platforms as well as in person events, workshops and conferences, together with a strong communication and mainstreaming strategy for broader promotion to the wider public.

In fact, THEO is a pioneering project that promotes exercise with dogs as a structured and enjoyable physical activity. It integrates therapy and movement into daily routines, fostering a healthier lifestyle for both humans and animals. By encouraging interaction between people and dogs, THEO aims to improve physical health, emotional well-being, and social inclusion.

The project is innovative and allow a series of positive impacts:

  • Research and experience show that activities with dogs enhance attention, concentration, and otivation, especially in children with functional diversity.
  • Dogs act as companions, motivators, and emotional supporters, helping individuals cope with stress, anxiety, and social challenges.
  • Regular exercise with dogs benefits both species: Humans experience better fitness, lower stress levels, and improved mental health.
  • Dogs get more exercise, stronger bonds with their owners, and a better quality of life.
  • THEO also seeks to change societal perceptions, reinforcing that dogs are not just pets but partners inan active and healthy lifestyle.

he Theo Oncosrtium is happy to share the E-Book, one of the most important project outcomes. The E-book aims to:
• Encourage empathy towards animals, especially dogs.
• Show the benefits and responsibilities of having a dog, emphasizing good practices related to play and physical exercise.
• Offer examples of activities that can be done with dogs and highlight the benefits of these activities.
• Promote inclusion through dog-assisted activities, supporting emotional well-being and social interaction.
• Highlight the importance of therapy and assistance dogs in improving lives.
THEO is very special dog. Not just of his A furry friend to those in need! Therapy dogs are trained pets that travel to schools, nursing homes and hospitals to HELP people relax and feel at ease. GOLDEN fur, his bright eyes, or because he loves helping people feel safe and happy. What makes Theo really, really SPECIAL is that he is a THERAPY DOG.
