SOS Project

Project description

The project proposal refers to preventing and combating violence against children (VAC) in the
context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which changed the life of children. In order to keep children’s
opportunities to report VAC and seek support.
The proposal sets the following objectives:
1. To reinforce mechanisms of early detection, reporting and supporting (potential) victims by
establishing SOS centres in 9 schools and 2 child sports clubs that will have a positive impact on 1400
children;
2. To upgrade the capacity of 140 stakeholders and relevant professionals to detect and respond to
VAC;
3. To increase the practice at the EU level in the area of applying child participation to prevent and respond
to VAC.
The main target group are 1400 children aged 13-18 who study in schools in Bulgaria, Greece, and
Portugal, as well as in sports clubs in Italy The project is based on 2 approaches: behavioural and child
participation. They will be applied in the activities organized as follows: Capacity-building of
professionals: – 4 Workshops for 100 stakeholders – 4 Trainings for 40-60 trainers Strengthening School
Support Mechanisms – Set-up SOS centres – Developing training materials – 80 activities for 1400
children in total – 8 online resources created by children Impact assessment: – Developing 1
methodology – Writing 4 national and 1 project report Dissemination: – 3 national and 1 EU conference;
– Toolkit in 5 languages – YouTube Channel – 500 USB sticks Management – partnership agreement, 1
handbook, 4 meetings Results – Created comprehensive approach directed to promoting new
opportunities for early detection, reporting and support related to VAC in the context of COVID 19
pandemic; – Defined new channels for early identification, reporting and seeking support; – Promoted
approach of child participation in project design, implementation and assessment; – Accumulated
knowledge about the impact of the project; – Widespread project results
